Reducing the Carbon/Environmental Footprint
Long before it became trendy to talk about "green" data centers, EYP Mission
Critical Facilities has been actively involved in planning, designing and
testing facilities that are both highly reliable and energy efficient. Why
have we chosen to be a leader in this? Consider this: In the last few years
alone, EYP MCF has designed facilities that, in total, have the capability
to demand well over 500 MW of total power. By decade's end, we will have
designed facilities that can peak over 1500 MW of power. To satisfy this
need, around 3000 MW of electricity will need to be generated, which is
the equivalent of 3 to 5 large coal-fired power plants. These statistics
are presented to illustrate the importance of embracing and promoting ideas
that will help reduce the size of the environmental "footprint" that we
make as a firm when we are providing services to our clients.
Not For the Faint of Heart
Analyzing and developing focused solutions for reducing overall energy and
environmental impact is not something for the faint of heart. After all,
these facilities are "mission critical" and introducing unexpected risk
is simply not acceptable. Our process includes a broad and deep vetting
process to help our clients understand in plain terms how they can reduce
risk, cost and environmental impact while simultaneously improving the effectiveness
of the IT systems - the primary reason why data centers exist! Additionally,
we have developed international expertise and rock-solid core competencies
in specific energy and environmentally-related R&D topics that demonstrate
our not only our commitment to the environment, but to our clients' bottom
line as well.
