Regional Technical Seminars
We’re seeing significant changes taking place within the mission
critical industry from the convergence of infrastructure and information
technology to issues related to reducing energy consumption, running a more
efficient facility, and lowering operating costs.

Moving Towards Sustainability
In 2006, as the industry experiences robust growth across all market sectors,
a major industry challenge now facing critical facility design and operations
is the demand to optimize reliability and conserve energy. With energy costs
approaching nearly one-half of the total operating costs of a critical facility,
corporate clients and government entities are requiring sustainable, innovative
yet cost-effective energy-efficient design solutions for their critical
facilities. As on-going technological advances in high-performance computing
increase the importance of reliable power and cooling, and as the consumption
of electrical power for servers continues to grow, looking at ways we can
do more for less will help move critical facilities towards their goals
of sustainability.

The Convergence of IT & Infrastructure in Critical Facilities
In 2005, after leading the design effort on numerous greenfield and retrofit
data centers for multinational financial institutions, insurance companies
and broadcast firms; designing prototype electrical distribution systems
for nearly 20 major US airports for the FAA; and being involved in critical
system and IT planning programs for fortune 500 corporations; EYP MCF is
now taking these and many other lessons learned to host its next technical
seminar series. The Convergence of IT & Infrastructure in Critical Facilities
explores the many critical facility issues from the IT perspective (the
need for the latest technologies and equipment) and the infrastructure perspective
(the need to provide and process power).

Reliability and Energy Efficiency... Can They Coexist?
2004 brought about a renewed interest controlling ongoing operational costs,
particularly through energy consumption. Historically, the need for ultra-reliable
continuous power in critical facilities has come with a high-energy price
tag‚ potentially consuming 10 to 20 times more energy than comparably-sized
commercial buildings. Presentations for this seminar series explored ways
in which to cost-effectively balance both high-reliability and energy-efficiency
objectives in mission critical facilities.

Emerging Opportunities: Optimizing Infrastructure Design &
Performance
In 2003, seeing a rebounding economy yet critical facility owners still
under cost guidelines, EYP MCF chose a theme to address the delicate balance
between design and operations of critical sites, while assuring performance
in the present mission critical industry. Presentations illustrated the
importance of providing the highest levels of reliability while optimizing
infrastructure design.

Meshing High Reliability With Your Bottom Line
In 2002, reacting to a down economy and therefore increased need for cost-effective
operational continuity, EYP MCF began to offer complimentary biannual technical
seminars across the US to assist our clients and partners with the daily
challenges of running a critical facility: achieving high reliability while
under heavy cost constraints. Presentations were developed to address design
and operational concerns as well as technology developments and government
regulations that affect the mission critical marketplace.
